WELCOME POST

Ok, it’s not actually snowy here now, but it’s still winter! And the purpose of this blog is to take you on the trip with us when we leave our house in cold St. Louis, Missouri, to head to the beautiful weather of the Mariana Islands. We’ll be on a tour arranged by the WWII Museum in New Orleans. I’ll describe the trip itinerary in detail later, but when we leave on Wednesday, we’ll be headed toward the great state of Hawaii and then beyond to the Marianas, close to Japan. It will be the first time either of us has crossed the international dateline. Well, it will probably be a trip of many firsts.

For those who know me well, know I’ve done email trip reports in the past of where we’re going and what we’re doing. And although this one will have some history, pictures of gorgeous beaches and other scenery, it IS an organized tour, which means it will hopefully be full of fun and interesting characters. The other day, Gregg and I were fondly remembering Pat and Helga from a river cruise we took in France many years ago. They were the Laverne and Shirley of the river. We also met lifelong friends Bob and Ann from New York, who had lived all over the world with Bob’s career in high end cosmetics. We hope to meet many such interesting people again.

I’m going to be doing a daily update to this blog. If you subscribe, you’ll get an email when I post a new update. This is just for friends and family so I’m not depending upon subscribers, so only subscribe if you want to go along with us. But I hope you do!

Oh, and lest I forget later, thanks so much to Eric, my coworker and friend who, along with his daughter Ashley, will be house and kitty sitting for the whole 2 1/2 weeks that we’re gone. Going away and being worried about home is hard to do, so I’m thankful Zoey, Oscar, and our shack on Lindenwood are in good hands!

~Dawn
